Dimensions Measurement and Ends
- Grasp the spring base with one hand and hold the calipers with the other.
- Position the calipers on the outermost coil to measure the largest dimension, the Outside Diameter (O.D.).
- Place the calipers on the wire at the center of the spring to determine the Wire or Material Size. For accuracy, measure the wire towards one end as well.
- Extend the calipers along the uncompressed spring length to measure the Free Length.
- Count all coils from one end, including partial ones, to determine the total count. Refer to a diagram for clarity if needed.
